Engineering More Savings into an Already Well Run Operation!
A Property Management company in North County sends out 100,000 budget and audit mailings in large flat envelopes each year to their recipients,
Each of these documents are 8 ½ by 11, 25-50 page booklets, stitched down the side by their copier system and were placed into flat sized envelopes, with the address printed on the outside of the envelope by a high speed ink jet addressing system and automatically inserted using the Hasler M9000 Folder Inserter.
Completed pieces were taken to the mailing machine for posting and delivery at the full First-Class mail - Flat rate.”
To reduce postage and labor costs while maintaining delivery standards of First-Class mail, SDP teamed up with the customer to develop a solution.
The first part of the solution involved the insertion of the document with their inserting equipment by using a windowed 9 ½ by 12 envelope with an addressed banner page on the face of each document set, to eliminate the printing of the address onto blank envelope stock to each recipient, saving time and ink costs.
The second phase of the solution was to use discounted Presorted First-Class. The postage savings were significant over the full priced rate. Mail Management software did all the hard work including address cleansing, presorting and documentation for bulk mail entry. Simple banding equipment helped meet postal requirements for strapping the bundles.
The third part of the solution was to eliminate the time and ink costs of metering on the customer’s postage meter by moving to Permit Imprint. Although we normally advocate the improved performance of metered mail over permit imprint, in this case the recipients will recognize who the mailing came from and will not be fooled into thinking that it is “junk” simply because of the way that postage was evidenced.
Dollar savings were over $16,000 per mailing, or $32,000 per year with a return on investment realized within 6 months. The resulting savings from the improvements went right to the bottom line enhancing their profitability and ability to compete.
