The purpose of this first call is to
explain what is involved in the 3 certifications: What they mean, Who can
qualify, Time Commitment, Training Schedule etc. Please log on to the
website above and place a call using the I.D. numbers during the scheduled
time.
The purpose of the study group is to
help the participants achieve these professional certifications: MQC
Certification will be done first and is open to non MSMA members at no
charge. There is a one time $12.00 cost from the USPS to take the
actual test. The certification is good for 2 years. Following
the MQC study group and exam, we will begin the CMDSM and CMDSS
certifications.

The MQC is a USPS
certification for Mailpiece Quality Control Specialist. It is an
open book test that can be taken on-line. There are no prior
requirements necessary to achieve this certification. Estimated
Study time for this is about 12 hours of self study. We will
supplement this with weekly conference calls to review assigned sections
in May and the first week of June. Students may take the test at any
time, cost is $12, you may take it up to 4 times with 6 months from
registration. There is going to be a refresh of the Study Guide and
Test after the new postage rates go into effect on May 14th.
They will be releasing a summary change page reflecting the changes,
specifically as it relates to Flats and NFM. We will cover these as
we will not be taking the exam until June.

The CMDSM
and CMDSS is a much more comprehensive Certification, less emphasis is
placed upon MQC style details and is much broader based. During
this orientation call we will be going over the requirements necessary to

The MQC
certification will provide a sound fundamental understanding of USPS rules
and satisfy a majority of the training requirements for Postal Knowledge
section of the CMDSM /CMDSS Study Guide. The goal is to have
as many San Diego MSMA members achieve their CMDSM/CMDSS certification and
the next testing period we are shooting for is in October.
